Games of 2012: The Most Wanted

2012 is looking to be a great year for high quality games. Here are a few games that I am looking forward too!

Bioshock: Infinite
The follow up to Irrational Games stellar game of the year from 2007. Forget the somewhat hum-drum sequel Bioshock 2. This is looking to be the game that I wanted BioShock 2 to be. The dynamic story telling from BioShock seems to be intact, focusing on the dynamics of patriotism and the american ideal instead of the potential of humanity with no bounds. It is set in brand new setting, Columbia, a floating city in the sky. Hopefully Columbia will have as much character as Rapture and I will fall in love with the fantastic story telling dynamic yet again. I cannot wait.

Mass Effect 3
The final chapter in the Mass Effect series. The story about Commander Shepard versus the Reapers will finally come to a close. Being able to import your character from Mass Effect to Mass Effect 2 and then again into Mass Effect 3 will finally allow me to finish a story I started in 2007. The coherency from the import is promised to be astounding, bringing in decisions from all the games into the fold. Hopefully the Rachni Queen I saved will finally bring her army to my back in defense of sentience races for the survival of the galaxy. The addition of using Kinect with the great moral and conversation system will be a nice addition to play with as well.

Alan Wake's American Nightmare
The follow up to the amazingly under sold and under rated story based survival shooter by Remedy games. The move to downloadable is extremely smart and a great idea. Quick and dirty with scary jumps and crazy twists and turns. I cannot wait.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron
Forget the Micheal Bay movies, this is the Transformer franchise I want everyone to remember. The combat is fast and frantic and you don't have to put up with Shia and crazy un-needed explosions.

Diablo 3
Click-click-click-click-click. I cannot wait for devils, demons, and necromancers to be at the mercy of my mouse. Diablo 2 consumed my life for months at a time, creating ridiculous talent trees and clicking my way to hell, all while collecting the ears of players falling to my might. I can't wait to explore the world of Tristam again. Click-click-click-click-click.

Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm
The Zerg are my absolute favorite race and I cannot wait to see the Zerg-centric story take center stage with amazing and awesome new units to help me destroy my Protoss and Terran foes. Kerrigan is my all time favorite villain in story telling history, even though I think the end of Wings of Liberty hurt her character more than build it, but we will see once the arc is solidified in Heart of the Swarm and then finished in Legacy of the Void.
