An American Tale: Fievel Goes West is my Kids movie of choice. First things first, it is a Western, a genre long since forgotten in conventional cinema. Which means all the trappings, a musical number in a saloon, an epic shoot out, indians, the whole nine yards. Oh, and every main character is an animal of some sort, with human's barely showing up at all. It is a tale of a boyhood dream of wanting to become a hero, a dream which most people still have to this day.
I also love the historical context. In the first film, the movie was about the huge influx of European immigrants in the late 1800s to the United States, and this film is about the exodus out West in the early 1900s.
