Thursday Favorites: An American Tale

This movie is one of many that defined my childhood. It also has effected me as a young adult and an adult as well.

The movie follows a tail of an immigrating family of mice from Russia during the late 1800s. It ends up giving the story a weird historical context and really paints up the hopes and ideals of the american dream of coming to a new place to start over. Then there is the music. While it is a cartoon where the characters end up singing to the audience, the songs that were composed for the film have such an incredible sound to them that they remain relevant when they are removed for the context of the film. Well, except for maybe "There are no cats in america"....
